Knife attack: Suspect arrested after man’s face slashed in Sutton

A man was slashed across the face with a knife while walking to work.

At approximately 17:20 GMT on Wednesday, Nottinghamshire Police characterised the incident as “horrendous” and it took place on Forest Street, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

At the neighbouring Picture House pub, police detained a 33-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

It was said that the 44-year-old victim was assaulted after being forced to the ground.

With severe and potentially permanent facial injuries, he is still being treated in Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre.

Potential witnesses are being urged to come forward by the force.
