Mother charged after four children killed in Sutton

A mother has been with manslaughter after four of her children perished in a fire in south London in 2021.

Deveca Rose, 29, of Sutton, was also charged with child abandonment on November 9, 2023, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Leyton and Logan Hoath, aged three, and Kyson and Bryson Hoath, aged four, died in a fire on Collingwood Road, Sutton, on December 16, 2021, around 19:00 GMT.
Ms Rose is scheduled to appear before Croydon Magistrates’ Court on December 11.
During the “intense blaze,” firefighters wearing breathing apparatus pulled the four brothers from the mid-terrace residence and performed CPR on them.
They were transported to two south London hospitals, where they were confirmed dead.

The Met Police stated their “extremely complex investigation” into the fire is ongoing, with assistance from the London Fire Brigade and the Crown Prosecution Service.
According to a police official, the incident had a “significant impact on the local community”.
