Sutton in Ashfield sex offender to meet ’14-year-old girl’ caught in the act.

A dangerous sexual offender who met with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl and sent explicit messages to her was sentenced to prison.

After sending the “girl” several sexually suggestive messages, Naveed Sultan set up a meeting at Sutton Lawn Park in Sutton-in-Ashfield. The “girl” was actually an adult posing as a teenager.

Sultan arrived at the spot, but the woman he was speaking with never came close to him—instead she observed from a distance.

The 38-year-old Sultan’s employer provided the information to Nottinghamshire Police, who then opened an investigation.

Investigators also learned that Sultan had sent the “girl” videos, screenshots, and voice messages that were graphic in nature.

Officers conducted a thorough investigation and found that Sultan had been having sex with two other teenage girls and had made an effort to find out where they lived.

One of the girls, thirteen years old, received messages from him encouraging her to meet him and threatening to rape her.

Sultan was eventually charged with several offences by detectives, and he entered a guilty plea to two counts of having sex with a minor and one count of trying to meet a minor after being groomed.

He was handed an eight-year total custodial sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, November 16. This includes three years of parole and five years of incarceration.

In addition, a sexual harm prevention order was placed on him, which will restrict his internet usage after he is released from custody.

Sultan, of Nottingham’s Sophie Road, was also permanently added to the register of sex offenders.

Detective Constable Toby Marsh, Police Officer in Nottinghamshire:

“Sultan sent numerous sexually explicit images and messages via social media, indicating that he clearly thought he was in contact with a child.

Even worse, he attempted to get in touch with that ‘child.'”

“When we started looking into his online behaviour, we found Sultan had also been corresponding with other teenagers, attempting to find out where they were, urging them to get together, and sending them offensive messages.

Sultan is a very dangerous person, a judge has agreed with us.

“I am happy that he has been sentenced to prison for these offences, as it is evident that he poses a serious risk to the welfare of impressionable youth.

“I hope that other people who believe they can similarly groom and take advantage of children will take note of this case as well. It’s likely that we’ll learn about it and they’ll wind up behind bars.
