New data shows the A roads in Sutton that have the longest and shortest delays.
An A road is a major road that connects cities and towns.
There are six A roads in Sutton, and the A24 is the road with the most delays.
The data revealed that in 2023 there was an average delay of 139.4 seconds per mile for drivers on the A24.
These have improved however as in 2022 the average was 148.2 seconds per mile.
The A road with the shortest delays in Sutton is the A2022 with an average delay of 26.4 seconds per mile.
The prior average was 24.8 seconds each mile, thus these have gotten longer.
Construction projects, auto accidents, mechanical failures of vehicles, inclement weather, and heavy traffic can all cause delays on the roads.
The A2043, A237, A232, and A217 are the other A-roads.
Following a delay of 135.9 seconds per mile in 2022, the A2043 has the second-longest delays in 2023, coming in at 135.7 seconds per mile.
In 2023, the A237 experienced a delay of 115.1 seconds per mile, which was less than the 106.1 seconds per mile delay in 2022.
After a larger average delay of 112.4 seconds per mile in 2022, the A232 saw a delay of 109.9 seconds per mile in 2023.
In 2023, the A217 saw an 86.6-second delay per mile following a shorter average delay in 2022 of 84.8.
