Swanscombe man, 32, found dead in River with fractured skull

Mystery surrounds the death of a man from Swanscombe who was found dead floating in the River Medway.

Daniel Streeton, 32, was discovered on September 5 last year after a member of the public spotted a body in the water near the Esplanade in Rochester and called emergency services.

However, according to the post mortem, Mr Streeton did not die from drowning, but from a traumatic brain injury caused by a fractured skull.

An inquest into his death was held at Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone on Tuesday (September 3).

Due to a lack of evidence, coroner James Dillon was unable to determine how Mr Streeton obtained the injury and how he came to be in the river, leading him to a deliver an open conclusion.
