A look ahead to MK Dons’ trip to the County Ground to face Swindon Town

This year, Mike Williamson’s team has had inconsistent results away from home. They have dropped their previous three road games, most notably to Bradford City, Barrow, and Doncaster Rovers. Not exactly a fan of draws either, the Dons are currently sixth in the standings after winning eight and losing four of their previous 12 games.

Since the Robins’ impressive start to the season, Swindon has only won twice and drawn three more times in the same time frame. With League Two standings of 17th, Michael Flynn’s poor performance cost him his job in January. Gavin Gunning was appointed interim manager.

The teams have played 26 prior games with 13 wins for the Dons and 7 for Swindon, with 6 ties. The teams’ most recent meeting at the County Ground took place during the 2020–21 season, which Russell Martin’s team won 4–1. That day, goals from Daniel Harvie, Cameron Jerome twice, and Regan Poole sealed the points, while Jack Payne, who is currently on loan at Stadium MK, scored for Swindon. The Dons prevailed 3-2 when the teams met previously in the season.

Scott Tallis, the referee, will oversee the match. In his 25 games this season, the referee has given out 103 yellow cards, two red ones, and six penalties. In October 2022, he played in his final Dons match, winning the EFL Trophy against Walsall. Christopher Husband, the Fourth Official, will run the lines with James Vallance and Sean Rothwell.

The game is favoured by bookmakers to be won by Dons (6/5), Swindon (9/5) and drawn (5/2).
