Adams, 48, has decided to move back to the North West outfit. He has had other ‘possibilities’ over recent times and journalist Nixon has reported on Patreon that he had some discussions with Swindon Town regarding their managerial vacancy.
He has now gone back to the Mazuma Stadium and has told the club website: “I’m looking forward to it! Morecambe FC is a club I know well from my previous two spells at the football club, and I am looking forward to getting started.
“There is a lot of work to be done over the transfer window to get ready for the start of the new season, and I know the Board of Directors were looking for a manager who knows the football club and how it works.”
Mark Kennedy has been appointed manager of Swindon Town following a protracted hunt for Michael Flynn’s replacement. Last term, Gavin Gunning served as interim manager.
Morecambe, on the other hand, has been mulling over their options after losing Ged Brannan to Accrington Stanley, a fourth-tier team.
Adams first joined them back in 2019 and guided them to promotion to League One against the odds.
He spent his playing days as a midfielder for the likes of Aberdeen, Burnley and Motherwell and played over 300 games before hanging up his boots in 2009.
The Glasgow-born man started his managerial career at Ross County and Plymouth Argyle before joining the Shrimps.
Adams severed his connection with the Lancashire club in 2021 when Bradford City made an approach, but he soon made a comeback once the Bantams fired him.
Late in the previous year, Ross County enticed him to return to Scotland, but the Staggies fired him in February.
What next for Morecambe and Swindon Town?
Morecambe decision to lure Adams back could turn out to be a good one as he knows the club inside out and is experienced in the Football League.
They will be aiming to finish higher up the division next season and have a lot of work to do on the transfer front.
The same applies to Swindon Town, who will be hoping former Lincoln City man Kennedy can lead them to success.
