Gavin Gunning, in the opinion of Swindon Town striker Charlie Austin, is the “ideal man” for the permanent management position.
After splitting with Michael Flynn, Swindon Town appointed the Irishman as interim manager for the end of the current campaign.
In the summer, the League Two team must decide who will be their permanent manager.
According to a Swindon Advertiser story, Austin has said clearly who he wants: “For me, I am here for the season, but Gav is the perfect man for the football club at this moment.” From your perspective, he is familiar with the football team, the players, and the area.
“Who are we going to invite next? It turns becomes everything all over again and the football club doesn’t need that, they need consistency in what they want to do.”
After taking charge of eight games, he has won two of them, drawn four, and lost two.
With their comfortable mid-table position, the Robins can now focus on their upcoming campaign and their goal of returning to League One.
Under Scott Lindsey, Gunning joined Swindon in 2022 and has remained there ever since, playing a few different roles.
