Plans to establish a Sensory Room at SN1 are being moved forward by Swindon Town Football Club in an effort to make the County Ground as inclusive and accessible as possible.
Caroline Lane, our Disability Liaison Officer, has been at the forefront of several initiatives, including our recently renovated Junior Reds Room, our Sensory Packs, and a social story created by author Charlotte Olson called “Suzie and Sammy go to Swindon Town.”
We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes developing ideas to unveil the County Ground’s very own Sensory Room in the Arkell’s Stand as we continue to develop the property.
Drawing inspiration from teams like Notts County, MK Dons, Walsall, and Wolves, Caroline Lane has given speeches to other clubs.”
A significant amount of capital is needed for any project this sophisticated to be completed, and adding this to the County Ground will greatly enhance the number of supporters who attend football games.
We recently started a GoFundMe page, where we are requesting donations from several local businesses who have already expressed interest in supporting our project, as well as supporters who may contribute to it.
We express our gratitude to Neil Hutchings of TrustSTFC and Chairman Andy Cossens of the Official Supporters Club for their willingness to help with the creation of the Sensory Room at the County Ground.
We are also running a Raffle, where the money raised will be donated to our GoFundMe, where Captain Charlie Austin and teammates hand-signed an EFL and Level Playing Field ‘Unite For Access’ T-Shirt and tickets are £1.
