Swindon man arrested with murder after man fired dead inside’

Wiltshire Police officers were called to an address in Westbourne Court at about 1am on Sunday following a serious assault.

But despite the best efforts of emergency services, a man in his 50s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Grant Walker, 32, of Faringdon Road, Swindon, has now been charged with murder following a ‘swift investigation’ by the Force’s Major Crime Investigation Team and local policing teams.

In addition, he faces charges of assaulting an emergency personnel.

He is scheduled to appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (February 27) after being placed under remand in custody.

Detective Inspector Hatch, the investigating officer, stated: “I would like to thank the victim’s family for their support during this investigation and to offer my condolences.”

“Our thoughts are with them, and the specially trained officers are still there to support them.”

A full twenty-four hours after the victim was declared dead, police officers remained on duty at the Rodbourne crime scene, with a nearby property marked off with police tape.

The continuing inquiry has shocked other residents as well; one of them commented, “Generally it is a nice area but incidents do happen from time to time.”
