Police are requesting dashcam footage and witnesses in relation to the tragic death of a 16-year-old boy. The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old, was arrested at the scene and is still being held for questioning following medical attention for his wounds, while two other people sustained minor and serious injuries.
At approximately 9 a.m., Greater Manchester Police were called to a serious collision on Droylsden Road, Tameside, as it approached North Road.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but despite the officers’ and paramedics’ best efforts, the passenger in the car that struck the lamppost was tragically declared dead shortly after suffering catastrophic injuries.
Officers with specialised training have been sent in to assist his family during this terrible period.
In order to aid with their investigation, the GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is now requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the car—a white Vauxhall Corsa—and the collision in a busy Audenshaw neighbourhood during the evening get in contact.
Anybody with dashcam, cell phone, or CCTV/doorbell footage from the scene in the seconds prior to the crash is especially wanted to talk to the officers.
