Ahead of their Week 9 game against the Texans, the Bucs have issued their first injury report, which included several of the team’s most crucial starters.
The starting quarterback for the Bucs is still dealing with a knee issue.
Starting at quarterback, Baker Mayfield was fully participating but began the week on the injury list due to a persistent knee problem. Mayfield is playing through a left knee injury that is creating difficulty, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN earlier this week, but his MRI revealed no problems.
When asked about his knee on Wednesday, Mayfield gave an account of when the issue initially occurred and stated that it is improving daily.
“I lost it when Cade [Otton] scored the touchdown for New Orleans.” Then, I guess, a really awkward fall against the Falcons that made things worse’, Mayfield remarked. However, things are improving every day. It simply occurs over time. This is not something that will go better quickly. It simply improves every day.
As he has been recovering from it for weeks, rested more than usual after playing on Thursday night in Week 8, and participated fully in practise on Wednesday, it doesn’t seem like Mayfield’s health will be an issue for Sunday’s matchup in Houston.
Several players from the Bucs’ offensive and defensive lines are listed as injured this week. Matt Feiler, a left guard, and Tristan Wirfs, a left tackle, make up the offensive line.
Week 8 saw the Bucs lose to the Bills, and Feiler was benched in favour of Aaron Stinnie. Wirfs had a serious thigh bruise during the game but managed to play through it.
Wirfs took part in Wednesday’s practise, though not as much as Feiler did. During his news conference on Wednesday, the head coach of Tampa Bay was questioned regarding the development of his star left tackle.
Bowles commented, “He’s coming along.” “He’s moving much more fluidly than he did or would have if we had been playing a game. However, he’s improving, so perhaps in a couple more days, he’ll be okay.”
Logan Hall and Vita Vea are both sidelined by groyne injuries on the defensive line.
Vea was a game-time decision and did not play in last week’s match, while Hall had a groyne injury during warmups but managed to play through it for eighteen snaps although Hall abstained, and Bowles reported that he was “feeling a lot better.”
