Running back Derrick Henry has accumulated an amazing 9,502 yards rushing in his eight seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
But for Henry and the Titans, the terrain is changing. Henry’s coach of the previous six seasons, Mike Vrabel, was fired in January.
Since then, the Titans have replaced Vrabel with Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan. Callahan’s coaching philosophy differs from Vrabel’s in that it emphasises improving passing play.
Now, as Henry gets closer to reaching 10,000 rushing yards, rumours regarding his future are starting to circulate. Henry, 30, is set to become a free agent in March, which has bettors excited to guess who he will sign with next.
Henry expressed his uncertainty about his upcoming free agency during Pro Bowl week, saying, “This is the first time I’ve been a free agent, so we’ll see what happens.”
The betting odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook show where Henry might end up after his NFL career. At +200 odds, the Baltimore Ravens are the clear favourite. The Philadelphia Eagles (+500) and Dallas Cowboys (+550) are right behind.
Bart Scott, a former NFL linebacker who is now an analyst, has praised Henry’s suitability for the Ravens. Marlon Humphrey, a Pro Bowl cornerback for the Ravens, also made hints about Henry possibly joining the team last season, indicating a good chance of a trade before the deadline.
Henry’s accomplishments are a testament to his skill on the pitch. The Heisman Trophy winner from 2015 made the first team of the Pro Football Hall of Fame following an exceptional 2020 campaign in which he broke the franchise record with 2,027 rushing yards.
Notably, Henry finished first in the NFL in rushing yards in both 2019 and 2020, establishing himself as one of the best backs in the game.
