According to reports, Brandon Belt, a two-time World Series champion, has attracted interest from the Texas Rangers.
According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the team had “internal conversations about Belt, who played for Texas manager Bruce Bochy in San Francisco.”
Belt played for the Giants for 12 seasons before acknowledging that the 2023 campaign with the Blue Jays “may be the end” for him. He signed a one-year contract with Toronto and cut at the end of the previous season.with 19 home runs and 43 RBI, slashing 254/.369/.490. During his career, the 19 long balls were the second-most.
Olney continued, saying that the Rangers’ biggest concern was the amount of money general manager Chris Young has at his disposal. Jordan Montgomery, a dominant free agent pitcher who helped lead the Rangers to the World Series in 2023, may also rejoin the franchise.
The Seattle Mariners also claimed Mitch Garver from the Rangers. As a free agent, he was the best offensive bat available.
Belt is a native of Texas, and the team needs a DH, so he fits in well there, though some of it depends on the 35-year-old.
In October, Belt said, “I’m not sure what I’m going to do.” “I’m not sure. I simply am not sure yet. I should discuss it with my family to get their opinion before moving forward. I should also wait a few months to see how I feel about it.
