Latest injury crisis for Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have started the 2023–24 season with a 3–4 record, thanks in large part to a remarkable comeback by Scottie Barnes against the San Antonio Spurs. Will Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks be able to stop that mojo?

The Mavericks offence, which averages 120 points per game, has helped them to an excellent 6-1 record, but Jason Kidd’s team has had to fight for some close wins since their defence still needs work in many important areas. A unit with so much porousness might be exploited by the Raptors.

In theory, Toronto might gain from facing a Dallas team lacking depth and possibly without both of its stars at full strength all the time because to their past injury history. Unfortunately, it looks like both of the Mavs’ superstars will be suiting up for this one.

Kyrie Irving’s status for tonight’s Raptors vs. Mavericks game is unclear. Irving has missed a couple games because of a foot strain, but the Dallas injury report for this game does not list him as officially injured. In this match, Dennis Schroder and OG Anunoby will have their work cut out for them attempting to slow down Irving and Luka Doncic.

Injury status of Precious Achiuwa for tonight’s Raptors vs. Mavericks game
Achiuwa appears to be recovering from his persistent groyne ailment and returning to the Toronto lineup after missing four consecutive games. When he has played, his signature mix of athleticism, defence, and disruption has been evident, and it was felt when he was not in the starting lineup.

With two more games against the Boston Celtics and a matchup against a Milwaukee Bucks squad eyeing revenge for their dud in their first meeting, the schedule doesn’t get easier from here on out.
