Torquay United ready to make new signings as transfer embargo lifted

The Gulls have been unable to negotiate any player transfers ever since they served notice of their intention to go into administration back in February

TORQUAY United fans can look forward to the announcement of new signings at Plainmoor after the club had its transfer embargo lifted over the weekend.

The Gulls have been unable to negotiate any player transfers ever since they served notice of their intention to go into administration back in February, but now that the Bryn Consortium have successfully completed their takeover of the club, they can begin trading once more on the player front.

New manager Paul Wotton is busy getting things lined up ahead of the new season and with striker Aaron Jarvis, midfielder Brett McGavin and winger Dillon de Silva all expressing their intent to leave on social media, it promises to be a busy summer of transfer activity on the English Riviera.

Rumors have already surfaced suggesting that James Hamon, the former goalkeeper for Exeter City, may be moving to Plainmoor after turning down a new deal offer from Truro City. As Wotton was his manager at Truro, the 28-year-old is a clear favorite with the White Tigers and will be well-known to him.

Ben Seymour, a different former Exeter player, is another player rumored to be moving. The 25-year-old striker at Hampton & Richmond Borough, who just missed out on a spot in the National South play-offs, has also turned down a new contract offer.Mel Gwinnett’s team ended tenth in the standings thanks to Seymour’s 14 goals. However, Seymour said on X, “I’ve made the decision to leave @hamrichfc – a lot of highs, a few lows, but a very fulfilling time.”

On Friday, June 28 at 7.30 p.m., Neil Warnock, a non-executive director and football advisor, will present his solo play “Are You With Me?” at Torquay’s Princess Theatre.

Helen Chamberlain and Charlie Baker, two famous Gulls supporters, will also be present, and all proceeds from the evening will benefit Torquay United Football Club.Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. tomorrow via the Princess Theatre website.
