Torquay United striker injury doubt for Easter games

The Hampton game was also missed by fellow striker Duane Ofori-Acheampong, and Ross Marshall and Kevin Dawson left the field limping. As a result, the interim manager might have to revert to using some of the club’s younger players to make up the numbers.

Torquay United’s Easter weekend games may not feature Aaron Jarvis due to his absence from Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Hampton & Richmond Borough.

The matches against Yeovil Town on Good Friday and Weston-super-Mare on Easter Monday will put Downes’ team to the test as Torquay fights to stay in the National League South and avoid relegation to the Southern League.

The Hampton game was also missed by fellow striker Duane Ofori-Acheampong, and Ross Marshall and Kevin Dawson left the field limping. As a result, the interim manager might have to revert to using some of the club’s younger players to make up the numbers. However, Jarvis might be out again following a knee injury he sustained during the Tonbridge Angels game—thankfully, it wasn’t the one that kept him out for three months—while Dawson might be fine and Marshall might be available.

“Jarvis missed that game because he was sick for the Hampton game, but we are also evaluating his knee and we are awaiting the results,” stated Downes. We don’t currently know if he is available, but by Wednesday or Thursday, I’m sure we will find out. It’s the other knee, not a recurrence of the other injury, and we don’t believe it to be anything serious. However, we must wait and see.

There ought to be Ofori-Acheampong accessible. He also had a knee issue that he developed during training on Monday and continued to bother him on Friday even though he had been training all week.

Duane took a minor knock to his knee, which kept him out for a few days’, Downes said. “On Friday, he was back on the training pitch, but something wasn’t quite right.” He should be alright because they were very close.
