Tottenham may harbour some regrets over their transfer business after deciding against a £30million deal.
After a strong start to the season, Tottenham will be pleased with the work they have accomplished since Ange Postecoglou came over this summer. Under the Australian, the North London team has had a fantastic first three months, as seen by the success of newcomers James Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Guglielmo Vicario. However, some at the club will be wondering if they made the right decision in passing on the opportunity to sign James Ward-Prowse.
Spurs lost their second game in six days, 2-1, against Wolves. Meanwhile, Ward-Prowse, who they supposedly followed all summer, performed admirably in the capital, contributing two assists to help West Ham upset Nottingham Forest 3-2.
For the whole of the match, Forest’s defence was helpless against the 29-year-old’s deliveries, who was a menace with both corners and free kicks. Jarrod Bowen was the recipient of his whipped corner delivery, and he headed the ball well to make it 2-2.
David Moyes, the manager of West Ham, realised that Ward-Prowse’s set pieces were an issue and substituted Tomas Soucek late in the game. That eventually paid off as the Czech sealed the victory with another strong header from a Ward-Prowse cross.
