Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to beat Napoli to the signing of Radu Dragusin.
This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who posted an update on about the latest involving the Spurs and Partenopei target.
Tottenham have been heavily linked with Dragusin in recent weeks, and things seem to be heading in the right direction for them.
For instance, Rudy Galetti took to on Tuesday afternoon to claim that Spurs are set to sign the Genoa ace for a fee worth around £23.4million.
Now, Romano has suggested that Napoli have had to look elsewhere for centre-back reinforcements due to Tottenham closing in on the 21-year-old.
He wrote: “Napoli will sign new centre back — and Sparta Praha’s talent Martin Vitik (2003) remains among options being considered.
Napoli asked for Dragusin last week but Tottenham are advancing to get deal done as revealed last week.”
Tottenham Hotspur set to sign ‘complete’ centre-back in Radu Dragusin
A few years ago, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout deemed Dragusin a “complete and dominant” centre-back. And since then, the player has gone from strength to strength.
The 21-year-old has registered 18 appearances in Serie A this season, netting twice and providing one assist for Genoa. He’s also a fully-fledged Romania international.
Dragusin is young, talented, has a high ceiling, and seems both available (which isn’t all that common in January) and decently-priced.
According to a report from Calciomercato.it, some inside the club believe that he has the potential to be even better than Cristian Romero.
Tottenham could certainly do with bolstering their defensive ranks following the personnel crisis they’ve suffered at the back. And Dragusin seems like a good shout.
Better still, Spurs are seemingly set to beat the reigning champions of Italy – who are also in the last 16 of the Champions League – to his signing. This shows how much pull Tottenham have got.
