Driver killed in Totton crash was in ‘stolen’ silver Peugeot 107 with ‘cloned number plate’
Police have revealed that a driver who perished in an accident was using a stolen vehicle with a cloned licence plate.
A lorry and a silver Peugeot 107 were involved in a deadly collision that happened on the A326 at the intersection with Monkton Lane in Totton, Hampshire.
On Tuesday, June 18, at 3:16 a.m., the police were summoned. At the scene, a 51-year-old man from Christchurch was declared deceased.
After learning last year that the silver Peugeot had been taken from Fordingbridge Car Park, police have now issued a fresh call for information.
“We are now able to share further information following our enquiries into this collision,” Hampshire police stated.
“It has been verified that the silver Peugeot, which was taken from Fordingbridge Car Park, Round Hill, Fordingbridge, on December 23, 2023, has a duplicate licence plate.
“We also think that a second car might have been nearby when the incident happened, and that the people inside might have been witnesses, but they fled before the police arrived.
“If anyone has any information regarding either of these vehicles, please call 101 quoting reference number 44240247966.”
