A man who died in a stolen car which crashed into a lorry on a major road in Totton has been named by the coroner.
Early on June 27, George Hughes, of Meyrick Close, Bransgore, passed away.
Police arrived at the scene of the collision, which involved a silver Peugeot 107 and an HGV vehicle, at 3:16 in the morning on the A326 near the intersection with Monkton Lane.
At the site, Mr. Hughes, 51, passed away.
For around twelve hours, the road between Fletchwood Road and A35 Hunters Hill was closed in both directions.
On , June 28, at Winchester Coroners’ Court, the inquest was began by the local coroner, Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp.
The official cause of death was listed as various injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
This follows an appeal by the police for crash witnesses.
They confirmed the Peugeot 107 had been equipped with a cloned license plate and had been stolen from Fordingbridge Car Park, Round Hill at Fordingbridge on December 23 last year.
Another vehicle was also believed to have been at the scene of the crash shortly before police arrived.
The full inquest into Mr Hughes’ death will be held on July 2 next year.
