Thieves have been striking when hapless drivers get out their vehicles to move the roadblocks, in an incident in Jacob’s Gutter Lane in Totton.
In that theft a Ford Focus was taken in the early hour of Sunday morning. It has since been recovered by police.
Officers are warning a similar incident was reported on Saturday morning but no car was taken.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “These incidents are being investigated and officers have been completing further enquiries and reassurance patrols in the locations concerned. These will continue over the coming days.
“If you spot our officers out and about, please come over and have a chat with them, ask any questions and share any information you may have.
“If you witnessed anything of these incidents, or recall seeing anything suspicious in the area last weekend, please call 101 and quote incident number 44240252831.
“We also want to hear from you if you have any footage which may assist us in our investigation, whether that be CCTV, dash cam, doorbell camera or mobile phone.
“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
“We understand the concerns these incidents will have caused within the community, and are doing all we can to investigate them and deal with those responsible.
If you come across barriers and/or cones in the middle of a road, causing an obstruction, please remove the keys from the ignition and lock your vehicle after exiting it to move them. Please also then report the incident to us.”
