Tragedy: motorcyclist dies in crash as road closed in Totton

Emergency services rushed to the crash on the A326 in Totton, Hampshire, at around 6.15am. Three vehicles, including a black Honda motorcycle and a white Yamaha motorcycle, were involved in the smash on the bypass.

Both of the motorcycles’ drivers—a 49-year-old man from nearby Southampton and a 38-year-old male from Gosport, Hampshire—died at the site.

According to Hampshire Live, their next of kin have been notified and are currently receiving assistance from specialised officials.

Officers are starting to look into the specifics of the event, therefore they have closed off both lanes of the A326.

There are diversion routes through the community of Marchwood, which is situated where the River Test and the Solent meet.
Staff at the nearby Noadswood School requested that parents and pupils postpone their arrival until 9am due to staff being caught up in the ensuing delays.

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened, or saw the three vehicles driving in the area prior to the collision.

“In addition, if you have dash cam footage of the vehicles and/or the collision, please call us.

“Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you feel it might be, could help aid our investigation.”
