Residents shocked and upset after 10-year-old girl found dead’

Residents on Robin Close in Rowley Regis are dealing with the news that a 10-year-old girl was found dead at a house on their street.

Tuesday, just one day after the child was discovered hurt at lunchtime, was a sad scene.

A 33-year-old lady was arrested and brought into jail for questioning after the child was later determined to have died at the scene. She is still being held there while investigations are ongoing.

The street was far calmer on Tuesday morning, with just a police car and two officers present behind a police cordon, than it had been the day before, when Robin Close was bustling with police and emergency service staff.
Along with multiple unicorn toys being left on the street adjacent to the cordon, there was also a police blue tent next to one of the houses on the road, serving as a sombre reminder of what had transpired.

A few people were seen walking up with children to lay tributes, while local people could be seen taking together about the scene.

One resident, who didn’t want to be named, said she had first heard what was going on when she was alerted by a phone call.
