One dead and two injured in Ulster crash

LAKE KATRINE: Just before 4 p.m. on Monday, July 29, a two-car collision on Route 209 in the Town of Ulster claimed the life of a 21-year-old man, according to a Town of Ulster Police announcement on Monday.

Noah Ortman, 24, of Lee, Massachusetts, lost control of his 1997 Mustang while travelling south on Route 209 near Sawkill Road. He crossed the grass median into the northbound lane of the road and was hit by a 2022 Jeep Wrangler driven by Ethan Costi. The investigators have identified Noah Ortman as the fatal victim.

Costi and a passenger, Abigail Pacheco, were treated at the site and taken to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston after Ortman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police.

The accident’s cause is still being looked into.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, Ulster Hose Fire Department, Ulster County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Empress Ambulance provided support to Ulster Town Police.
