Bolton Wanderers currently sit in 3rd place in the division, level on points with Oxford United and only a point behind league leaders Portsmouth. The club will be eager to keep the squad together in 2024, to give the club the best chance of winning promotion.
We examine three Bolton Wanderers players who need to have their futures sorted up before 2024, as that year draws near.
Dion Charles
The striker from Northern Ireland is a major factor in Bolton’s success in League One this year. With nine goals in 15 league appearances, he has made an impact, and you have to assume that clubs will be showing interest in the 28-year-old.
The fact that the forward penned a new deal until 2026 earlier this season goes to show how important the club know he is for them. And looking forward, it is key for Bolton Wanderers to keep hold of Charles in 2024 to keep the club’s promotion dream alive.
Aaron Morley
This season, the midfielder has played a significant role in Bolton Wanderers’ success. Even though he doesn’t always start, Morley has nevertheless managed to score three goals and dish out six assists.
Clubs will be eager to sign the athlete, who has a contract through 2025, given those numbers. Bolton might keep the player into 2024 with a new contract offer, as he has just over a year left on his current one. If the Trotters decide not to keep him around, he could develop into a genuine asset somewhere.
Paris Maghoma
Maghoma has played in 11 of the Trotters’ 16 league games this season, making the most of his first-team status for Bolton Wanderers.
The 22-year-old player appears to have a promising future in the game, but this season’s loan from Brentford ends. As long as Maghoma continues to get action in first-team football games, Bolton should be anxious to get the player to sign a permanent contract. The Brentford loanee may also be willing to join.
