Junior Tchamadeu of Stoke City may have an exciting opportunity to represent his country in the African Cup of Nations in January, but for the time being he is keeping his feet firmly planted.
The fullback talked to the local media about perhaps competing in the tournament in a few months, since he might soon be making his Cameroonian debut.
Actu Cameroun quoted Tchamadeu as saying that while he is now more focused on his first few outings, he acknowledged that there are high expectations for the African tournament.

“I have the African Cup of Nations on my mind.” I’m considering it because I want to compete for my country in one of the major international tournaments. To help the team win, though, I have to maintain my concentration for the next two games,” Tchamadeu added.
To be really honest, I’m proud to represent the nation of my parents, and I can’t believe how much the people have loved me. Playing for my parents’ nation is a dream come true, and I’m glad to be here.
Tchamadeu was called up by Cameroon for the first stages of the World Cup Qualifiers after making a strong start with Stoke City.
He is a member of the team that will face Libya and Mauritius in the upcoming days. Only on January 15th, when they play Guinea in the opening match, will they make their debut at the African Cup of Nations.
Tchamadeu was acquired by Stoke City from Colchester United during the summer of last year. The youthful player has made four appearances for the Potters so far. He even started a few games, but he quickly returned to the bench. The 19-year-old has a lot on his mind before January because of this.
