A9 closed after one killed and four seriously injured in ghastly crash

Following a crash on the A9 in the Highlands, a woman has died and four other people are in critical condition at the hospital.
Around 22:15 on Monday, the 65-year-old was a passenger in a Volkswagen Multivan that collided with a Toyota Hilux close to Carrbridge.

The driver of the Toyota, 51-year-old male, and the two passengers in the Volkswagen, a 39-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, were all taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
According to the police, their condition was deemed serious.

For nearly eight hours, the road surrounding the collision scene was closed.

Police Scotland said they were still conducting enquiries and made an information request.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who passed away at this very difficult time,” Sgt. Calum MacAulay stated.”I would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened or has dashcam footage of the area around the time,” I said, urging anyone with information to come forward as our enquiries continue.
