The Jambos launched ambitious hotel plans and will spend profits on recruiting new stars
Ann Budge has promised Hearts fans that their outlay into the club’s new hotel venture will help Steven Naismith bring in new signings.
The Jambos confirmed plans to open their hotel on the second floor of their main stand and that’s set to come to fruition in February. Ms Budge revealed an initial £1million will be brought in on an initial scale but they expect a heftier profit down the line.
And for the Hearts boss, that will allow the money-men to delegate more to the manager in order to enhance the squad and add reinforcements to the playing staff in order to assure third place and European football as a yearly sure-thing.
“Yes, we’re spending a bit of money on this, but we have to in order to support the football side,” Budge said.
“This year’s budget includes over £1m, with additional hospitality revenue coming from this new venture. Next year that figure will be substantially greater.
“From February, Tynecastle will become a 24/7 operation. Everyone is working flat out to get the hotel ready for our first paying guest.
“Fundamentally, we remain committed to ensuring financial stability for the club, while working hard towards making Hearts not just a major player in Scottish football, but also within Europe.”
“We don’t want our recent European adventures to be remembered as exceptions,” Budge continued. We want to qualify for European group-stage football on a regular basis, and we need to keep investing.
“We will continue to invest, which is critical.” Last year, our staff, player costs, and operating costs all climbed dramatically. Despite our hardships and lower income, they will rise again this year. Our goal is not to amass a bank balance. It aim to live within our means while continuing to reinvest in the club.”
