Kenny Miller has questioned if Rangers have been in by yet another Rangers injury after Jose Cifuentes was taken off early against Real Betis on Thursday 14 December.
The BBC pundit admitted he was left surprised by the decision from Philippe Clement, insisting the Ecuador international had just put in his best half of football since arriving.
In addition, Cifuentes has been suspended for the next two Scottish domestic games, which lends credence to the possibility that Dujon Sterling was injured.
Speaking live on TNT Sports, as shared by BBC on their live blog, Miller was scratching his head at the change during the break given the suspension.
“I’m surprised at the change,” he said.
“I wonder if Cifuentes is injured because I think it’s the best half of football he’s had at Rangers.”
Blow.
If Cifuentes did go into the dressing room at half-time with an injury blow, Clement must be left scratching his head at what on earth is happening to his squad.
There hasn’t been an injury crisis like this at Ibrox in a very long time, if ever, yet the results and performances are still coming in positively.
Clement and his squad have to be praised for that, and with huge games ahead in all competitions this month, that is something that will give everyone motivation.
Cifuentes wouldn’t be the worst player to pick up an injury given his suspension, and if he is fit by the time that is over, there will be no complaints.
Of course, there is the possibility that Sterling is set to come into the side for the ViaPlay Cup final against Aberdeen this weekend, and this was a chance to get him in to add some fitness to his legs.
