Amid rumours regarding Ben Doak’s long-term future at Liverpool, Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has declared that the player will stay with the team for the rest of the season. One of the standout players at the Riverside this season, the 19-year-old is spending the season on loan from the Reds at the Championship club.
Doak scored an incredible goal in Tuesday night’s 2-0 Championship victory over West Bromwich Albion. The on-loan Liverpool player wheeled away in joy after the teenager’s left foot shot beyond the penalty area and soared past custodian Alex Palmer.
Due to reports that Liverpool turned down offers of over £15 million for the winger from Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town, Doak’s future has been making headlines this month. The boss of the Reds has stated that the time for the forward to return to Anfield this month has passed, and the team had no intention of recalling Doak from his loan at Boro.
“The deadline has passed for Ben,” Carrick told Teesside Live. “I said all along I was calm! Obviously we’re really happy he’s here, but genuinely, it hasn’t been a big thing for us.

“He showed again tonight how dangerous he is and then scored a terrific goal. It’s something he can do a little bit more, come inside onto his left foot, because it’s something he’s good at as well. I’m delighted with it.
He poses a distinct threat and possesses that weapon. Everyone has different strengths when it comes to the game, but Ben’s style of play makes him a constant threat.
“Obviously, we’re glad he’ll be staying here. He plays a significant role and will do so for as long as he is here.
Doak has helped Boro move up to fifth place in the Championship standings this season with three goals and six assists. In December 2023, he made his final appearance for Liverpool in a Europa League loss to Union Saint-Gilloise.
