Blackburn Rovers overpower Ipswich Town in race for £4m rated Watford star’

The Hornets are reportedly willing to sell this month, but want a specific fee to do so.

Watford are open to selling striker Mileta Rajovic this month, but only at a certain price.

According to The Sun’s Transfer News Live page (20/12, 20:42), the Hornets have set a £4 million asking price for the 24-year-old, sparking interest.

Ipswich and Blackburn learn Watford’s Mileta Rajovic price tag

Ipswich Town and, more recently, Blackburn Rovers have been linked with a move for the huge Danish attacker.

Indeed, when Ipswich were turned down for Blackburn’s Sam Gallagher, Kieran McKenna’s side reportedly considered the Watford attacker as an option.

That was reported by PA journalist Nick Mashiter, who noted George Hirst’s long-term absence.

Blackburn Rovers, meanwhile, have now also reportedly joined the race for Rajovic as Sam Gallagher continues to be linked with a move away from Ewood Park.

Indeed, Alan Nixon via Patreon claims that Gallagher’s move away has been put on hold for now as Rovers are struggling to find a replacement, but that Watford’s Rajovic is their first choice.

Mileta Rajovic stats

Rajovic has certainly impressed the two sides above with his ability to find the back of the net since joining the Championship in August.

Rajovic’s finest contribution since joining Watford for a reputed £1.7 million in the summer has clearly been in front of goal, with eight league goals and one more in the FA Cup.

This is despite not being a regular starter, as Watford head coach Valerien Ismael has frequently rotated Rajovic with Vakoun Bayo this season.

Rajovic has started only 14 of his 25 matches this season, and he has only played the full 90 minutes five times.

Watford would need Rajovic replacement

If Watford were to sell Mileta Rajovic this month at their £4 million asking price, the Hornets would certainly have to re-invest.

At present, following Rhys Healey’s £2 million move to Huddersfield Town, Rajovic is one of just two strikers currently on the books at Vicarage Road.

Indeed, Rajovic’s exit would leave just Vakoun Bayo as a recognised striker in Valerien Ismael’s squad.

This would imply that any agreement for Rajovic’s departure would occur after Watford had signed another forward, rather than before.

It is also worth noting that Rajovic, with nine goals, is Watford’s leading scorer, with Vakoun Bayo coming in second with six.
