Police enquiries are ongoing after a man died under ‘suspicious circumstances’ in Newhampton Road East

The death of a man discovered in a Wolverhampton street is still being investigated. Following the discovery of the victim’s body earlier this week, police are still conducting investigations.

According to West Midlands Police, the 48-year-old passed away on the spot following a heart attack on Friday evening, November 8. A 58-year-old man has been arrested and his death is being investigated as suspicious.

As the investigation proceeds, the public has been asked to provide information to the force. Police sent the following brief statement today, November 10: “There isn’t any new information today. Investigations are still being conducted.

The tape was still in place on Saturday morning after police had cordoned off the area to gather evidence at the time of the incident. It is understood that the road has since reopened to the public.

A man’s body was found in Newhampton Road East in Wolverhampton on Friday night (Nov 8). Officers were alerted to the incident at around 6.25pm.

Police and paramedics tried to save the 48-year-old – who was in cardiac arrest – but sadly nothing could be done. He died at the scene in circumstances police say are “suspicious.”

Who was he?

The man has not been identified by emergency services.

Has there been any arrests?

Yes. Police say a 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to assault following the man’s death. The man was arrested sometime between Friday night and Saturday afternoon, with police issuing the update at around 3pm.

The suspect remained in police custody on Saturday and no further update had been given since. Detectives are trying to establish the circumstances of what happened.
