Breaking news: sheffield united lose key player

Midfield starlet Andre Brooks has signed a new long-term deal at Bramall Lane.

The Sheffield-born homegrown talent, has penned a deal until the summer of 2027.

Brooks declared, “I am absolutely delighted, it’s great to get it over the line,” following the signing of his new contract. The gaffer came in and immediately expressed confidence in me, which has given me a lot of confidence. Now it’s up to me to repay him for his confidence in me.

After a decade and a half in the system, this is just one more step towards my goal. I’ll be working hard to stay on the team and to keep developing because I know there’s still a long way to go.”

“Andre has been outstanding since I’ve been back in the building,” said boss Chris Wilder. Though he is aware that he must continue and establish himself as a first team member now, he still has a bright future ahead of him. The staff here will provide him with all the support he needs, so his task now is to build on his success and pick up where he left off.

“In my opinion, Sheffield United’s future appears bright. I was aware of the calibre of work the Academy was producing even before I entered Shirecliffe back in 2016, and I’m happy to see that has persisted. We are aware of how important it is to continue nurturing these gifted young athletes.”

Brooks, 20, has been a member of Bramall Lane since he was eight years old, rising through the ranks of the Academy.

In November 2022, he made his senior debut as a substitute in a 5-2 Championship victory over Burnley. His full debut came in March 2023 when United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the FA Cup.

On the first day of the season, against Crystal Palace, he made his Premier League debut as a substitute. Since Wilder’s return in December 2023, the young player has played a significant role, starting seven straight games across all competitions.
