Bristol City will hope Luton Town player’s Premier League stay is a long one

For some teams, there is always a player that, no matter what plans you come up with for them, find a way of punishing you. For Bristol City, that man was Luton Town striker, Carlton Morris, who was superb almost every time he faced the West Country side.

Morris is a player who has spent his entire EFL career having to wait his turn. He has always been a trustworthy player, from his formative years spent learning his craft at Norwich City to his historic 20-goal campaign that helped Luton win the Premier League the previous season.

But he made sure he was at his best to consistently challenge the Robins’ defence whenever he got the chance to play against Bristol City.

Carlton Morris: A man who deserved his chance

Having come through Norwich’s academy, much of Morris’ early career was spent on loan to various clubs in England and Scotland, but it was at Shrewsbury where he began to show signs of real potential. Having scored the winner against Charlton in a League One play-off semi-final, the striker got his start in the final but devastatingly injured his ACL, which saw him sidelined for all of the 2018/19 seas

After a few loans, the forward was bought by Barnsley during the January transfer window in 2021, and under Valérien Ismaël, he led the Tykes to an incredible fifth-place finish. Regretfully, Morris experienced play-off heartache once more when Swansea defeated his team 2-1 in the semifinals.

After an outstanding 18 months at Oakwell, Luton saw the striker as a priority target and bought him in the summer of 2022 as part of their promotion push. The forward from Cambridgeshire went on to have an incredible season for the Hatters and the play-off-winning team, scoring 20 goals and dishing out eight assists.

The 28-year-old’s impressive form has not stopped there and in his debut Premier League season he has so far managed to score goals relatively consistently, becoming a firm fan favourite at Kenliworth Road.
