Locals have identified the two adolescent males who perished in Bristol in a deadly knife attack.
At approximately 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, a group of people attacked Max Dixon, 16, and Mason Rist, 15, in Ilminster Avene, Knowle West. The attackers then drove away from the site.
Two people have been detained: a 15-year-old kid and a 44-year-old man.
“Further suspects” are what the police claim they are searching for.
“Police arrived at the scene within minutes of the first call and did what they could to provide first aid,” an Avon and Somerset Police spokeswoman stated on Sunday.
“After being stabbed, the victims were transported by ambulance to Southmead Hospital and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, where they tragically passed away in the wee hours of this morning.
“Our serious crime investigation team is in charge of looking into the occurrence. A 15-year-old child and a 44-year-old man have already been taken into custody. They are still being held by police.They have also seized a car.
The victims have not yet been formally identified, and a forensic post-mortem will be conducted when the time is right.
During a news conference, Bristol Commander Supt. Mark Runacres stated: “We believe there are more suspects among the group that are responsible.”
Passengers on a bus that was on Ilminster Avenue at the time of the incident are being sought for by detectives.
On Sunday, there was a vigil close to the attack site when people lit candles and laid flowers in memory of the deaths.
“This is an extremely shocking and tragic incident where two young boys, who had their whole lives ahead of them, have sadly died,” stated Commander Superintendent Runacres.We all have their families in our thoughts during what is obviously a very trying moment. The families will now be allocated specialised family liaison officers who will help them and keep them informed throughout the process.
“A cordon is in place on Ilminster Avenue between Newquay Road and Tavistock Road, and members of the public can expect to see a large police presence as forensic searches and other inquiries are conducted.
“There are a significant number of properties within the cordon and we would like to apologise for the disruption caused, but we hope people understand the importance of the work being carried out.
