Carrick addresses Seny Dieng’s Middlesbrough future amid Tom Glover decision

Over the weekend, Seny Dieng returned to the Boro bench as the team attempted to sign Mark Travers.

Seny Dieng’s departure from Middlesbrough this month is still possible, according to Michael Carrick, who acknowledged that Tom Glover is now being chosen before him.

Dieng was sidelined for a month due to a hip flexor injury after losing his spot in the Boro squad last month. Carrick acknowledged that the decision to keep Glover in the Boro squad was made on the basis of merit, even though the Australian was back in the squad on Saturday against Portsmouth and fit enough to play. It also seemed to indicate that Glover will continue to play when West Brom visits on Tuesday night.

The Senegal international may depart the team this month, according to growing rumours on Teesside. The fact that Boro is attempting to beat Watford to the Ireland international’s signature this month by chasing a loan move for Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers, in reality, is supporting such rumours.

When asked about Dieng’s future at Boro and the Glover selection, Carrick responded, “Seny’s fit, but it’s not always easy to pick the team.” We have a strong team, and we must make some decisions, as I have stated numerous times this season. Tom deserves to play tomorrow since he did a good job.

“Every player present, including Seny, is crucial to our team. I make an effort to treat every player equally. I really make an effort to treat everyone equally and fairly. That remains unchanged. I will treat everyone the same way while they are here, regardless of who they are.
