Chris Wilder, the manager of Sheffield United, stated that negotiations for a new contract have started and that he is committed to keeping Rhian Brewster.
Rhian Brewster, a striker, was signed by Sheffield United from Liverpool in October 2020. After an outstanding loan stint with Swansea City, he joined as a young player.
Regretfully, Brewster hasn’t performed up to the level the Blades had anticipated. The 24-year-old’s growth and availability have been hindered by injuries, but his influence has also been little when he is available.
However, following a thigh injury, Brewster has returned to the team in recent months and has contributed in some useful ways. Chris Wilder has now stated his stance, as his contract expires at the conclusion of the season.
The Sheffield United manager stated in an interview with The Star that he is committed to keeping the former Liverpool prospect and that discussions have been had about extending his spell at Bramall Lane.
The Sheffield United manager disclosed, “We’re in talks with Rhian and his representatives.”

“I hope he stays.” I’m a huge admirer. I disagree with what other people say. The boy wished to avoid getting hurt.
“I’ve discussed that previously, but he’s playing well and is in good health; I’m happy to have him in a front group. Now we have actual choices.
“Rhian is amazing at beginning and coming off the bench, and I would really like for him to resolve that issue. Hopefully, we can reach a consensus and make an arrangement while his agent speaks with the team.
A big show of faith
Brewster’s tenure at Sheffield United has not gone as expected, and that much is obvious. In 105 games, he has only managed seven goals and three assists, which is a very poor return for an attacking player that is primarily deployed as a striker.
However, Brewster has recently had more promising performances, whether starting or coming off the bench. He helped the team defeat Portsmouth last time out and scored in the 2-1 triumph over Swansea City last month.
It seems Wilder believes that the best is yet to come from Brewster. Still only 24, there is time for him to come good if he can find form in front of goal.
SUFC contracts
After such a big turnover of players since relegation, Sheffield United are in a good position when it comes to contracts. There is only one other player alongside Brewster out of contract this summer.
That is captain Jack Robinson, who has come back into the team in recent times following Harry Souttar’s season-ending injury and subsequent loan end.
It means the Blades have little to do on the contract front, allowing them to focus on on-pitch matters while laying the blueprints for future transfer windows
