COMMUNITY Donate to Project 35 at Stoke City takeover

The third specific Project 35 match will be Argyle’s Sky Bet Championship match against Stoke City on Saturday, December 2. This match will provide the Argyle community another chance to unite in the fight against food poverty in Plymouth, Devon, and Cornwall.

This season’s first official Project 35 Takeover fixture is our home game versus the Potters. As always, fans and community members are welcome to donate in-date, non-perishable food items to Home Park prior to kickoff. Particularly needed are cosmetics, UHT milk, and tinned meals. The challenging goal is to top our amazing donation totals from last year, which were 2.3 tons in October and 1.3 tonnes in April. These figures represent the kindness of our communities and represent an amazing reaction.

To help individuals in need prior to the holiday season, donations will be brought to the Manadon Sports Hub, which is home to the Argyle Community Trust’s Community Larder. The foodbank network is faced with the uncertainty of whether it will have enough resources to meet demand during this crucial period, when demand is at its peak.

Eighty locals in need are currently receiving food and supplies from our charity network through the weekly Community Larder. To learn more or to register, send an email to trevor.higgins@pafc.co.uk.

In its inaugural season, Project 35, in collaboration with Ginsters, made a significant impression. In addition to the enormous success of the fan appeals and the project’s triumph at the Football Business Awards for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Scheme, it has produced:

More than 35,000 lunches for the most vulnerable
‘Pledge 35’ volunteers donated 3,000 hours of volunteer work and 307 hampers to Plymouth’s most impoverished neighborhoods.

10,000 Ginsters goods to those residing in transitional housing
More than 400 hours of community service by Ginsters employees
320 tickets to games, 20 mascot encounters, and 212 Argyle shirts were given away.
13,219 hampers were donated, providing 5,922 youngsters with free education and wellness programs.
Three schools are receiving education programs and social action projects around food poverty.
Days of enrichment for 24 pupils who faced exclusion
Education seminars for adults and culinary classes for youth
important awareness of poverty promoted

In an effort to combat poverty, new programs are being introduced every week during the 2023–2024 season.

On matchday, the food van and Project 35 gazebo will be at the Devonport End starting at 1:00 PM. Staff from Ginsters, the Trust, and Pledge 35 will be available to assist with collecting and answer any questions regarding the broader objectives of Project 35.

“We were absolutely blown away by the incredible support from the community and Argyle supporters in the 2022/23 season,” stated Dwain Morgan, Head of Business and Impact at Argyle Community Trust. The fact that the community came together to contribute 4.1 tonnes of food to Plymouth Foodbank is evidence of the compassion and giving that Project 35 has received since its inception.

“So many people’s lives in our communities are being impacted by the growing crisis of the cost of living. We’re excited for game day and want to possibly outdo the outstanding work from the previous appeal.
