Coventry City received one big shock…….

Since joining Coventry City, Haji Wright has found it difficult to score goals and make up for the loss of Viktor Gyokeres, the team’s leading scorer.
Wright’s two goals in the most recent game against Preston North End gives fans optimism for his future performance.
Wright’s ability in front of goal will be essential to Coventry’s hopes of raising their league standing and producing successful outcomes.

Viktor Gyokeres, the Sky Blues’ leading scorer the previous two seasons, would leave the team for other opportunities after the team lost in the Championship play-off final and missed promotion to the Premier League.

After spending the last two years of his Coventry career scoring 38 goals in the Championship, the Sweden international left for Portugal to join Sporting CP for an estimated €20 million.

Naturally, this left the Championship team desperately in need of offensive potency, and Haji Wright was one fresh face brought in to assist fill that vacuum.

Wright joined Coventry this summer after playing for top-tier Antalyaspor in Turkey for the previous two years. The Sky Blues paid a club record €9 million for the player’s four-year deal.

However, after moving to the CBS Arena, it’s certainly safe to say that thus far, things have not quite gone as Wright or Coventry had intended.

How did Wright begin his career at Coventry?
Wright has participated in at least 15 of the Sky Blues’ league games since the start of the season since joining the Championship in the summer.

To make up for the deficit they are experiencing with Gyokeres’ absence in front of goal, Coventry would likely like to see more goals from the American international, who has maybe not yet begun to produce them.

Prior to his team’s match at Deepdale against Preston North End, Wright had only scored twice in 14

The 25-year-old striker’s objective is to score goals, so it goes without saying that he was anxious to score more frequently than that.

The pressure to turn around the club’s form after a slow start to the season that has them peering nervously over their shoulder at the relegation zone rather than competing for a spot in the play-offs once again, coupled with Wright’s record-breaking price tag, will only compound that in Wright’s case.

But after what happened in that encounter against Preston, Wright and Coventry supporters may feel encouraged that this Saturday’s game at Deepdale may be a turning point for the striker in his new team’s history.

would Wright and Coventry find significance in this Saturday’s encounter against Preston?
In the end, Coventry will experience even greater heartbreak following the match against Preston at

In the end, Coventry would have even greater letdown following their weekend matchup with Preston at Deepdale.

In that match, the hosts prevailed 3-2, sending Mark Robins’ team down to their fourth straight loss. Now, they are 20th in the Championship standings, four points above the bottom three.

However, Wright scored twice in that game, thus the club may reasonably feel relieved about who scored the two goals Coventry scored in that name.

After demonstrating a goalscorer’s instinct to open the scoring just after the half-hour mark with a close range finish on the rebound, the 25-year-old scored his second goal of the match late on in a similar fashion to make it 3-2 and give the Sky Blues a chance to tie the score that they were ultimately unable to take.

Wright was able to double his goal total for the club and contribute significantly for Coventry when they needed him, so even though that may not have been enough to win the game, it should at least give him the confidence to move into those positions in the future.

Taking all of it into consideration, it appears that Coventry can benefit much from what was yet another trying day on Saturday, owing to Wright’s influence.
