Duke Basketball Unveils Starting Lineup Against Baylor

Once again, two rookie guards are among the Duke basketball starters.

In its last six games at Madison Square Garden in New York City, Duke basketball has prevailed. And when they take on No. 10 Baylor (9-1, 0-0 Big 12) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, the 21st-ranked Blue Devils (7-3, 0-1 ACC) will be looking to extend that run.

1-0 in the all-time series, the Blue Devils are ahead. On their route to winning their fourth of five consecutive national titles, Duke secured that victory in the 2010 Elite Eight. In that game, senior guard Jon Scheyer, who is currently in his second season as Durham’s head coach, scored twenty points.

Tyrese Proctor, a sophomore guard, sprained his ankle in the first half of the Blue Devils’ most recent defeat, 72-68 at Georgia Tech in the team’s ACC opener, meaning that Duke will be without him for the third straight game. The team disclosed on social media that Christian Reeves, a sophomore centre, is still sidelined due to an ankle injury.

And about half an hour before the game began in MSG, Duke basketball announced its starting lineup:

senior security guard Caleb Foster, Jared McCain, and Jeremy Roach are freshmen guards.

Mark Mitchell, a sophomore forward
Forward Kyle Filipowski, a sophomore
In Duke’s two prior games without Proctor, Scheyer started with the same lineup. Foster has started in place of the injured starter.

After the much awaited game against the Bears, the Blue Devils’ next scheduled game is on December 30 when they host Queens at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
