Exclusive: Aston Villa raise funds for signing supper stars striker

Aston Villa are set to raise funds for their 2024 transfer business by letting fringe stars go in next month’s window, sources have told Football Insider.

Mega-rich Villa owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris are ready to back manager Unai Emery with more signings in January.

However, the Midlands powerhouses must first reduce their wage expenditure, and letting loanee Clement Lenglet return to Barcelona may help them achieve that objective.

Considering that Lenglet hasn’t played a single minute in the Premier League this season, Football Insider reported on Monday, December 18, that Barcelona may decide to void Lenglet’s loan agreement.

This season, Emery’s team has also used Leander Dendoncker, Bertrand Traore, Calum Chambers, and Robin Olsen in sporadic lineups.

After 17 games, Aston Villa is in second place in the Premier League, and they want to build on their strong start by adding more players in January.

Last week (12 December), Football Insider reported that Emery’s team is eager to add two offensive players during the upcoming January transfer window.

Oscar Gloukh, a midfielder for RB Salzburg who was just added to Villa Park’s shortlist, is one possible target.

On Wednesday, December 13, Football Insider was informed by sources that Villa could sign Gloukh in January for a projected cost of between £40 and £50 million.

The Midlands giants, who presently only have Ollie Watkins and young Jhon Duran on the roster, also prioritise an all-out striker.

Villa has also progressed to the Europa Conference League knockout stages and will participate in the competition’s final 16 in March.

In other news, Emery and two Aston Villa players have had “fall-outs.”
