Exeter City signs mega deal with leading sports scholarship agency

Exeter City are set to enhance its Player Pathway programme through a new partnership with FirstPoint USA. The Grecians are teaming up with the world’s leading sports scholarship agency, FirstPoint USA. This partnership will create new opportunities for Academy players to play and study in America.

The goal of the team’s Academy pathway is to give players a way to further their studies and keep playing at a high level. FirstPoint USA will offer knowledge and assistance to anyone thinking about applying for a US college scholarship.

FirstPoint, which was founded in 2001, works with young athletes of various skill levels worldwide. Their network of over 2,500 schools and universities allows them to offer academic and athletic opportunities across the United States. They have so far succeeded in obtaining approximately $300 million in scholarship money for more than 30,000 student-athletes.

“We are eager to ensure young players have good options beyond the club and for those transitioning out of the Academy, playing and studying in the US provides a fantastic opportunity which retains them in the game at a high level and allows them to experience the superb facilities that are over there,” stated Dan Hayfield, Exeter City’s Player Care & Support Lead.

As a team, we are dedicated to improving our player care offerings, and this collaboration gives players the chance to pursue an alternative path that may prove to be extremely advantageous for their professional future. Now that we have benefited from FirstPoint’s experience and knowledge, we can help our gamers who are transferring even more.

Former NCAA D1 Northern Kentucky University student-athlete Harvey Moyes, Head of Club Academy Partnerships at FirstPoint USA, stated: “We are very excited to be working with Dan and his team to provide our services to the club’s academy players.”

“I know what a life-changing opportunity it can bring, whether you use your degree to pursue a different career path or continue playing at a high level—I had first-hand experience playing college football in the US myself.

“We understand that not every player will be able to play in the US, but we are happy to provide our support to those who are eager to give it some thought.

“Exeter City is a fantastic club that offers top-notch player care. By incorporating this opportunity into their programme, they make sure that players have a way to continue their education after leaving the club.”

Along with MLS teams Philadelphia Union and FC Cincinnati, FirstPoint USA collaborates with the League Football Association, the PFAs of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and partner clubs Arsenal, Fulham, and QPR.
