According to reports, Middlesbrough is nearing a double transfer agreement before their match against Sunderland on Monday night.
Kickoff for the Championship match between the two teams is set for 8 p.m. at Riverside Stadium, with three hours remaining in the transfer window. However, Boro manager Michael Carrick appears to have received a double transfer boost prior to the match.
According to transfer source Fabrizio Romano, Middlesbrough is in the process of finalising agreements for Kelechi Iheanacho and Samuel Iling Junior. Additionally, he asserts that after recalling Iling Jr. from Bologna, Aston Villa has now signed all the paperwork for a fresh loan. Although the two have not yet been named as Boro players, the agreements appear to be almost final.
Carrick and Middlesbrough are greatly boosted by the news going into their match against Sunderland. The two will significantly increase the Teessider’s prospects of finishing in the top six, even if neither will be signed in time to play against the Black Cats. Iheanacho, 28, once paid an incredible £25 million to move from Manchester City to Leicester City.
In a double transfer from Juventus last year, Iling-Junior, 21, and Enzo Barrenechea secured permanent contracts with Premier League team Aston Villa. With a €14 million fee and €3 million in add-ons, the sale brought in a total of about £14 million in UK currency.
However, striker Emmanuel Latte Lath has had his physical before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, therefore it appears that Middlesbrough has approved a departing. The striker will fetch up to £22 million from Middlesbrough, an MLS record. An £18 million sum and £4 million in add-ons make up the transfer.
