Finance expert reacts to Reading FC takeover news involving ex-Bolton figure

Kieran Maguire has criticised Ken Anderson after he was linked with a takeover of Reading.

If Ken Anderson takes over the team, Reading supporters should be worried because he has a track record of mishandling money and failing businesses.
The team’s on-field difficulties and relegation fears are being exacerbated by their off-field issues, such as unpaid taxes and point deductions.
The supporters of Reading are in great need of a trustworthy new owner who can help guide the team in the right direction and ensure its survival.

Kieran Maguire has told Reading fans that they should be worried if Ken Anderson completes a takeover of the club.

Reading’s problems off the pitch persist.
The Royals’ problems are well-known since last season’s relegation was partly caused by a points deduction they received. In addition, they have already received a four-point penalty this season, leaving them at the bottom of the table and in danger of being demoted once more.

With Reading having neglected to pay an HMRC tax bill on time, there could be more issues ahead.

In order to drive Dai Yongge out of the club, supporters have been staging frequent protests in hopes of forcing a takeover.

Ken Anderson is considering purchasing a copy of Reading
But even though Yongge left the team in disarray, Reading will still need a capable new owner to help the team advance, so it was worrying that the Telegraph listed former Bolton manager Ken Anderson among other parties who were interested in purchasing the team.

“Offers have been made by former Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and the Luxembourg investment group Genevra Associates; there have also been suggestions of interest from American investors and a party associated with the former chairman of Bolton Wanderers, Ken Anderson.”

Ken Anderson: who is he?
The 71-year-old has, as previously stated, participated in the game in the past, and it’s safe to say that he doesn’t have the best record because he was present when the Trotters collapsed due to financial mismanagement.

In addition to Bolton’s difficulties, several of Anderson’s other ventures have failed.

Due to this background, financial expert Maguire was prompted to share his opinions on the possibility of Anderson assuming control on social media. He did so by quoting Forest Green owner Dale Vince, who called Anderson “a rogue chairman, a slippery character, and untrustworthy.”

“Reading supporters, if Ken Anderson is involved at your club, be afraid, very afraid. He had served an eight-year ban from serving as a director of a company.

Although there is obviously fierce competition to purchase the team and no assurance that Anderson will succeed, supporters will be concerned about the possibility of him joining.

What will happen to Reading next?

Reading is in a terrible place both on and off the pitch, so it’s a terrible time to be a supporter.

Ultimately, the goal is to remove Yongge from the club; however, as previously mentioned, this requires finding the right buyer to enable them to continue in the future.

Thus, the high level of interest is encouraging, and they will be hoping for some significant news as soon as possible.

Although the off-field problems are undoubtedly a big distraction, Ruben Selles needs to focus on producing results in the interim with the team he has at his disposal.

After 16 games, the Royals are ten points from safety. Their next match is against Wycombe Wanderers.
