Tom Jordan has agreed to join the Bristol Bears, and Glasgow Warriors has confirmed that he will leave the team at the end of the current campaign.
After making an impression with the Ayrshire Bulls in the FOSROC Super Series, the Auckland-born playmaker ends his four years at Scotstoun by signing a three-year contract with the English Premiership team.
Glasgow, where he has thrived under Franco Smith for the past two and a half years, is devastated by his leaving. He played every match and contributed significantly to their victory in the United Rugby Championship the previous season. He has demonstrated his versatility by playing at stand-off, centre, and, more recently, full-back, where he made his Scotland debut this month.
Coming off the bench against Fiji at Murrayfield in the Autumn Nations Series opener, the 26-year-old made his debut for his country before receiving Player of the Match in Saturday’s victory over Portugal.
Jordan told glasgowwarriors.org, “I’ve had an amazing time with Glasgow Warriors and I’m really grateful to the club for the opportunities they have given me.” “I want to express my gratitude to all of the players, coaches, staff, and supporters I’ve encountered over the years. I’m fully focused on giving this club my all and ending the season on a high note.”
Before Scotland’s victory over Portugal, head coach Gregor Townsend shared his thoughts on Jordan’s transfer to Bristol.
Townsend went on to say, “I know Glasgow will be disappointed to lose someone of Tom’s ability and his versatility.” However, we have players who represent us well at the national level who play outside of Scotland. Whatever Tom plays next year, I have no doubt that he will keep becoming better.
