Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle takes brutal swipe

American businessman Kevin Nagle insists Huddersfield Town have some “great competition ahead” with Leeds United, despite their struggles in the 2023/24 season

Leeds United had an incredible run of form in 2024, making them the best Championship team in Yorkshire. The Whites are three points behind leaders Leicester City in the league as we approach the busy part of the season. It appears quite likely that they will be promoted back to the Premier League at the first opportunity.

Huddersfield Town, United’s West Yorkshire rivals, are fighting for survival while United is well positioned to win the championship. The Terriers have fallen into the relegation zone after suffering back-to-back league losses. Earlier this month, despite playing the entire second half with 10 men after Jonathan Hogg’s sending off, they held the Whites to a 1-1 draw. With nine games left, they are one point from safety after being thrashed 4-1 by West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

Some United supporters criticised Terriers owner Kevin Nagle for making a “L**ds” joke on social media before the team’s most recent encounter. Though he is certain Town will overthrow them, the American businessman has now advised Whites supporters to “enjoy” and have “fun” during their drive for advancement.

Nagle stated, “I don’t know what to say; I just figured that the fans at Leeds have got a lot of free time,” in his most recent video diary on X. We appreciate you viewing our social media pages. I am aware that they are enjoying the current situation.

“However, I will tell the Leeds supporters who are currently watching, ‘have fun, enjoy it now because it is not going to be like this.'”

You are aware that I have close friends who own that place. They are wonderful individuals. There will be fierce competition up ahead. To the gentlemen from Leeds: feel free to chuckle at this moment. We shall see you later, but it’s okay, we can handle it. We’ll watch to see what transpires.”

Back in October, United handily defeated Town at Elland Road, winning 4-1. The Whites led four nil at the break thanks to braces from Dan James and Crysencio Summerville.

“I go to Leeds; I enjoy a lot of restaurants there,” Nagle stated. “There are folks there that I know.

However, we’ll have to wait and watch what transpires on matchdays. In the future, we will see them once more. This isn’t the time to say goodbye. First, it’s not over, and second, they still have some work ahead of them, but I think there will be some amazing fights in the future.”
