After police promised to act in response to community concerns, four persons in Kilmarnock were taken into custody and charged with a variety of drug crimes.
On Friday, March 1, during a day of action, police raided two houses in the Newton neighbourhood.
A lady, 47, and three men, ages 26, 27, and 62, were taken into custody and accused with a number of drug crimes.
Significant amounts of cocaine valued at over £3,900 as well as trace amounts of other Class A, B, and C substances were taken into custody.
The people of the neighbourhood are concerned about the effects drug abuse is having on their community, and the raid follows cops’ commitment to address the drug problem in the area.
Inspector Iain Farmer, a senior officer, recently went on a walkabout and discussed issues with local lawmakers.
“Police and partners will not tolerate the blight that drug misuse causes within the local community,” stated Inspector Farmer. By paying attention to the locals’ worries, we were able to organise our day of activities and come away with successful searches. We will always try to direct individuals who are regrettably entangled in the drug trade to the several local organisations that provide support.
