Tuesday night’s away game against Blackpool sees Derby County return to League One action. On Saturday, they travel to Cheltenham Town.
Hourihane, 32, has missed the last three games across all leagues due to injury. He is about ready to come back, though.
According to DerbyshireLive, Warne issued the following update on his condition: “He should be fit. He worked out on Friday and today (Saturday). He has checked off every need, and I have been informed that he will train with the team on Monday.
“However, much like Max Bird and every other injured player, they must work to reintegrate into the club. The return of both him and his set-piece delivery will be welcome. We have two away games that we must attend and attempt to win.
Derby bolster
Hourihane’s return will help Derby much. When he plays, his team gains more talent and expertise.
Following their relegation from the Championship last season, the Rams raced in to sign him. After severing connections with Aston Villa, he became a free agent and made the controversial decision to play in the third tier.
Since then, Hourihane has played in 59 games across all competitions while at Pride Park. The international for the Republic of Ireland has contributed nine goals, including two this season.
A little under 550 games into his career, he has also played for Sunderland, Ipswich Town, Plymouth Argyle, Barnsley, Swansea City, and Sheffield United.
Over the weekend, Derby and Cambridge United drew 0-0 at home because neither team could get the other to commit a foul. They are unbeaten in their past three league games and are ranked 12th in the standings.
