Leeds United man fires opening shot to blades fans ahead of Sheffield United clash as he relishes Bramall Lane reunion

A Leeds United player enjoys his reunion at Bramall Lane as he takes the first shot before Sheffield United’s match.
The former Sheffield United loanee, Ethan Ampadu, is excited to play his current Leeds United team in a crucial top-of-the-table match when he returns to Bramall Lane next week. The Blades were demoted from the Premier League in 2020–21, a season played with very few fans, and Ampadu had a miserable season on loan in South Yorkshire from Chelsea.

He eventually found a home away from Stamford Bridge with Leeds in 2023, where he is currently Daniel Farke’s club captain, following additional loan stints at Venezia and Spezia. Leeds will start at Bramall Lane two points clear of second-place United, having regained their lead in the Championship title race with a thrilling victory over fellow promotion contenders Sunderland on Monday night.

Before then, Sunderland and Burnley, who are now in third place, would both want to have put some pressure on the chasing team. Ampadu acknowledged the Blades match: “That’ll be a huge game.” I believe that every game will be crucial from now until the end of the season.

We’re all fighting for the same things. Two teams fighting for what they want to fight for, so it’s going to be enjoyable. I’m sure they’re going to be excited for it as well and yeah, it’s game on.”

“It feels like the whole team is on a great path at the moment,” Ampadu continued in his programme notes for Monday’s match against Sunderland. However, nothing is settled after 32 games, and in order to accomplish what we all want, we must maintain this consistency in the remaining… games of the campaign.
